Website Redesign: old site, new soul
What does website redesign mean?
A website redesign is not the same as building a new site. Most of your existing content (text, images, structure) stays, and gets a new look: modern design, faster load, better mobile UX, cleaner codebase. Much faster and cheaper than building from scratch, but the impact is the same: the new site looks and feels brand new.
How do you know it's time for a redesign?
Some signs that your website needs a redesign:
- It's hard to use on mobile, or doesn't adapt to small screens at all.
- It loads slowly (more than 3 seconds).
- The design was made before 2010 and it shows.
- Google Analytics shows visitors leaving fast.
- You want to launch a new product or service, but the site structure won't allow it.
- You can't find your own site on Google for your own keywords.
- The admin panel is outdated, you don't dare touch it.
Redesign or new website? What's the difference?
A website redesign takes 2 to 4 weeks, typically 30-60% cheaper than a new website build. The existing content and messaging stay, only the "wrapping" gets replaced. A new website makes sense when the business direction is also changing, or the old structure is so outdated that a redesign cannot fix it. We discuss this in the brief.
How does the website redesign process work?
The process: 1. Audit, we review your current site, traffic, speed, SEO state, content quality. 2. Strategy, we decide what stays, what changes, what goes. 3. New design, modern visuals that match the brand (free, finalized together). 4. Redesign, we implement the new design, optimize speed, improve mobile UX. 5. Launch, the old URLs lead to the new site, Google rankings are preserved.
How much does a website redesign cost?
Indicative pricing: small refresh (design refresh) from 150.000 HUF, full redesign from 300.000 HUF, complex webshop redesign above 500.000 HUF. Price depends on the number of subpages, content volume, and new features (e.g. multilingual, blog, lead-gen, chatbot, etc).
What stays from your old website?
Kept: content (text, if well written, with light optimization), images (if good quality), URLs (important for preserving Google ranking), domain and hosting (if quality). Renewed: design, technology, mobile optimization, SEO structure, speed, security.
Website redesign FAQ
Will I lose my Google ranking due to the redesign?
No, when done right. The existing URLs are preserved, content hierarchy is kept, SEO value transfers. In fact, due to faster load and better mobile UX, the ranking usually improves after redesign.
What if the old website is WordPress, Wix, or another platform?
We migrate data from any platform. After redesign, we build on our own fast, secure tech, or if needed, stay on WordPress but clean the template and plugins.
Do you need to shut down the old website during the redesign?
No. The new website is built in parallel in a staging environment. Only the last day switches over, and instantly. Your visitors can use the old site until then.
